Thus, changing `kw` to be a `frozendict` could prevent any unintended consequences. \n\nAdditionally, right now, the keys of `kw` could be an arbitrary `PyObject`, leading to unintended code execution if they are not strings. Thus, enforcing that the entries are strings could solve any future problems (similar to what happened in https://github.com/python/cpython/pull/145362).\n\nLastly, Issue https://github.com/python/cpython/issues/145446 also makes sure that there are no unintended mutations in the `functools` internals for free-threading, but changing to using a `frozendict` would be a more robust solution. \n\nI will work on this and create a PR in the next couple of days. I will wait until https://github.com/python/cpython/issues/145446 is resolved to avoid any conflicts.\n\n### Has this already been discussed elsewhere?\n\nThis is a minor feature, which does not need previous discussion elsewhere\n\n### Links to previous discussion of this feature:\n\nhttps://github.com/python/cpython/pull/145362#discussion_r2872869856\n\n\u003c!-- gh-linked-prs --\u003e\n### Linked PRs\n* gh-145960\n\u003c!-- /gh-linked-prs --\u003e\n","author":{"url":"https://github.com/brijkapadia","@type":"Person","name":"brijkapadia"},"datePublished":"2026-03-03T15:05:51.000Z","interactionStatistic":{"@type":"InteractionCounter","interactionType":"https://schema.org/CommentAction","userInteractionCount":3},"url":"https://github.com/145478/cpython/issues/145478"}
