I have two PCs both with SSDs and Anaconda installed. To the default anaconda installation I added plotly by running\r\n\r\n     conda install plotly\r\n\r\nOn both PCs the time to import plotly is just enormous. On my desktop PC running Ubuntu 17.04 64-Bit\r\n\r\n\ttime python -c \"import matplotlib\"\r\n\treal\t0m0.150s\r\n\tuser\t0m0.140s\r\n\tsys\t0m0.008s\r\n\r\n\r\n\ttime python -c \"import pandas\"\r\n\r\n\treal\t0m0.384s\r\n\tuser\t0m0.340s\r\n\tsys\t0m0.040s\r\n\r\n\r\n\ttime python -c \"import plotly\"\r\n\r\n\treal\t0m2.184s\r\n\tuser\t0m1.156s\r\n\tsys\t0m0.072s\r\n\r\n\r\nand on my Laptop running Windows 7 64-Bit\r\n\r\n\ttime python -c \"import matplotlib\"\r\n\treal\t0m0.442s\r\n\tuser\t0m0.015s\r\n\tsys\t0m0.000s\r\n\r\n\r\n\ttime python -c \"import pandas\"\r\n\r\n\treal\t0m0.933s\r\n\tuser\t0m0.016s\r\n\tsys\t0m0.015s\r\n\r\n\r\n\ttime python -c \"import plotly\"\r\n\r\n\treal\t0m4.881s\r\n\tuser\t0m0.015s\r\n\tsys\t0m0.016s\r\n\r\nIs this in the normal range?\r\n\r\nEDIT: I upgraded my plotly version from 1.12.9 to 2.0.7 and the times dropped significantly, albeit still high. Nice to see the progress being made.
