Description: Current situation BUILDING > Windows > Manual install contains instructions to install Visual Studio 2022. Visual Studio 2026 is now the latest version and the default version shown on https://visualstudio.microsoft.com Branches main and v25.x are compatible with building under either Visual Studio 2022 or 2026. The workload "C++ build tools" listed for Build Tools does not exist under this name. "Desktop development with C++" is the right workload to be selected with all editions for Visual Studio 2022 or 2026. Available links https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/ is the generic link, which defaults to Visual Studio 2026 and allows access to older versions https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/#build-tools-for-visual-studio-2026 for Build Tools for Visual Studio 2026 https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/releases/2022/release-history#evergreen-bootstrappers links to Visual Studio 2022 Evergreen bootstrappers with the notice: There is no separate LTSC channel for the 17.14 minor version. Visual Studio 2022 version 17.14 on the Current Channel will be supported for the remainder of the 10-year product lifecycle until January 2032. This includes the currently used link https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vs_buildtools.exe for Visual Studio Build Tools 2022 Change Add installation instructions for Visual Studio 2026 whilst leaving updated instructions also for Visual Studio 2022. Adapt the links and text to conform to the displays in Visual Studio Installer.
