Is there a required condition?\n\nAlways\n\n### What is the expected behavior? Why is that the expected behavior?\n\nBoth calls should throw a catchable error and not abort the process. With a 10-character name, both complete normally. When SQLite text doesn't fit in a JS string, `node:sqlite` already throws `ERR_STRING_TOO_LONG` for column values (#66209) and for error messages. These strings should do the same.\n\n### What do you see instead?\n\n```console\n#\n# Fatal error\n# Check failed: String::kMaxLength >= len.\n#\n#\n#\n#FailureMessage Object: 0x16ce74ca8\n----- Native stack trace -----\n```\n\n### Additional information\n\nNoticed while fixing https://github.com/nodejs/node/issues/66520","author":{"url":"https://github.com/trivikr","@type":"Person","name":"trivikr"},"datePublished":"2026-10-05T03:02:57Z","url":"https://github.com/nodejs/node/issues/66522"}
