Description: PR Summary This PR updates the SpanSelector to make it consistent with RectangleSelector: Deprecate span_stays in favour of interactive Add edge handle when interactive=True Add drag_from_anywhere option, in line with #19657 Fix #9660 Improve docstring Deprecate pressv When reviewing the docstrings, I realised that some attributes are not expected to be used by users and should be private - I am happy to revert it back if necessary Privatize rect, rectprops, for the SpanSelector Privatize to_draw, drawtype for the `RectangleSelector Privatize active_handle for SpanSelector and RectangleSelector Make direction a property If you are happy with the changes, I will do the remaining doc, examples, etc updates. PR Checklist Has pytest style unit tests (and pytest passes). Is Flake 8 compliant (run flake8 on changed files to check). New features are documented, with examples if plot related. Documentation is sphinx and numpydoc compliant (the docs should build without error). Conforms to Matplotlib style conventions (install flake8-docstrings and run flake8 --docstring-convention=all). New features have an entry in doc/users/next_whats_new/ (follow instructions in README.rst there). API changes documented in doc/api/next_api_changes/ (follow instructions in README.rst there).
