Some information is available in the respective classes or in examples. But I haven't found a concise overview giving the big picture.\r\n\r\nIt would be valuable for users (and also developers) to have a single help page collecting this information.\r\n\r\nIn particular:\r\n\r\n### Elements of a plot\r\n- Figure\r\n- Axes\r\n- Axis\r\n- Artists\r\n- Patches\r\n- ...\r\n\r\n### Coordinates and scaling\r\n- Figure / Axes / Data coordinates\r\n- Bbox\r\n- aspect handling (original and active axes positions)\r\n- transforms\r\n- ...\r\n\r\nThe above are just the topics that came to my mind right now. It's work in progress and I plan to work on this later on.
