They are often longer than the useful script output.\r\n\r\nI have seen [suggestions](http://matplotlib.1069221.n5.nabble.com/Matplotlib-vers-1-5-0-warnings-td46543.html) to use the `warning` module to silence these messages, e.g.\r\n```\r\nimport warnings\r\nwarnings.filterwarnings(action='ignore')\r\n```\r\n\r\nbut I don't think this is a practical solution, as 1) I would need to add these two lines every time I create a new script that uses matplotlib (which is often), and 2) I would silence at the same time all the other warnings, that could be actually useful.\r\n\r\nmatplotlib 1.5.3 Python 2.7.12 on linux installed through conda, TkAgg backend.\r\n\r\nApparently not everyone sees those warnings.","author":{"url":"https://github.com/vnoel","@type":"Person","name":"vnoel"},"datePublished":"2016-11-04T18:05:20.000Z","interactionStatistic":{"@type":"InteractionCounter","interactionType":"https://schema.org/CommentAction","userInteractionCount":5},"url":"https://github.com/7404/matplotlib/issues/7404"}
