The default is 75. Values above 95 should\n be avoided; 100 completely disables the JPEG\n quantization stage.\n\n *optimize*: If present, indicates that the encoder should\n make an extra pass over the image in order to select\n optimal encoder settings.\n\n *progressive*: If present, indicates that this image\n should be stored as a progressive JPEG file.\n```\n\nI am using the GTKAgg backend. I also tried the Agg backend but JPG was not supported with this.\n\nI would like to have a proper documentation at http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/api/pyplot_api.html#matplotlib.pyplot.savefig and an implementation that works.\n\nCheers\n\nFrank\n","author":{"url":"https://github.com/fkbreitl","@type":"Person","name":"fkbreitl"},"datePublished":"2011-09-07T08:50:31.000Z","interactionStatistic":{"@type":"InteractionCounter","interactionType":"https://schema.org/CommentAction","userInteractionCount":9},"url":"https://github.com/458/matplotlib/issues/458"}
