Seems to make sense to add that so that one can just point at the linestyles document.\r\n\r\nThere is also an issue with that the code hanging for zero dash-lengths. This is similar to the bug fixed in #22569 (which introduced another issue #22930, fixed in #22931, so one should take care to not repeat that). \r\n\r\nExamples:\r\n\r\n```\r\nimport matplotlib.pyplot as plt\r\nplt.scatter([1, 2], [2, 1], marker='s', linestyle='')\r\n```\r\nproduces an error `ValueError: Do not know how to convert '' to dashes`.\r\n```\r\nplt.scatter([1, 2], [2, 1], marker='s', linestyle=(0, (0, )))\r\n```\r\nwill hang (may be backend dependent though).\r\n\r\n\r\n### Proposed solution\r\n\r\n* Support empty line style (and update documentation). \r\n* Check that total dash-length is positive (or empty) and produce an error otherwise.","author":{"url":"https://github.com/oscargus","@type":"Person","name":"oscargus"},"datePublished":"2022-05-05T19:29:37.000Z","interactionStatistic":{"@type":"InteractionCounter","interactionType":"https://schema.org/CommentAction","userInteractionCount":1},"url":"https://github.com/22984/matplotlib/issues/22984"}
