In the section of the tutorial entitled \"Devil is in the details\", the script:\n\nhttp://www.loria.fr/~rougier/teaching/matplotlib/scripts/exercice_10.py\n\nproduces the figure displayed on the web page. Line 48 of the script is:\n\n```\nlabel.set_bbox(dict(facecolor='white', edgecolor='None', alpha=0.65 ))\n```\n\nIf we replace this line by:\n\n```\nlabel.set_bbox({\"facecolor\": \"white\", \"edgecolor\": \"None\",\"alpha\":0.65})\n```\n\nthen the edgecolor request is not taken into account. The two statements above should be equivalent. The author of the tutorial, Nicolas Rougier, is surprised too. People on stackoverflow think it is a matplotlib bug:\n\nhttp://stackoverflow.com/questions/16107832/specifying-dictionary-argument-with-dict-or-braces-matters-in-set-bbox\n","author":{"url":"https://github.com/lguez","@type":"Person","name":"lguez"},"datePublished":"2013-04-22T20:11:57.000Z","interactionStatistic":{"@type":"InteractionCounter","interactionType":"https://schema.org/CommentAction","userInteractionCount":6},"url":"https://github.com/1934/matplotlib/issues/1934"}
