{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"DiscussionForumPosting","headline":"Single-character colors do not match long names","articleBody":"### Bug report\r\n\r\n**Bug summary**\r\n\r\nAccording to our docs:\r\n\u003e one of {'b', 'g', 'r', 'c', 'm', 'y', 'k', 'w'}, they are the single character short-hand notations for blue, green, red, cyan, magenta, yellow, black, and white.\r\n\r\n**Code for reproduction**\r\n\r\n```python\r\nimport matplotlib.pyplot as plt\r\n\r\nfig, ax = plt.subplots()\r\nfor i, long in enumerate('blue green red cyan magenta yellow'.split()):\r\n    short = long[0]\r\n    ax.plot([0], c=long, label=long)\r\n    ax.plot([0], c=short, label=short)\r\nax.legend()\r\n\r\nplt.show()\r\n```\r\n\r\n**Actual outcome**\r\n\r\n![Figure_1](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/302469/84092438-50f36000-a9c5-11ea-8638-715fb724fcdc.png)\r\n\r\n**Expected outcome**\r\n\r\ncyan/c, magenta/m, yellow/y should match each other.
