In previous versions, this didn't happen (and still doesn't with `python2` on the same machine)\r\n\r\n**Code for reproduction**\r\n\r\n```python\r\nimport matplotlib.pyplot \r\n```\r\n\r\n**Actual outcome**\r\nRocket icon appears in MacOS dock and bounces for a while.\r\n\r\n**Expected outcome**\r\nNothing (no dock icon for previous versions).\r\n\r\n**Matplotlib version**\r\n  * Operating system: MacOS\r\n  * Matplotlib version: 3\r\n  * Matplotlib backend: any (seems to happen no matter what is set in matplotlibrc)\r\n  * Python version: 3.7 (Python.org framework build)\r\n\r\n\r\n\u003c!--Please tell us how you installed matplotlib and python e.g., from source, pip, conda--\u003e\r\n\u003c!--If you installed from conda, please specify which channel you used if not the default--\u003e\r\n\r\nInstalled from pip.\r\n\r\nI haven't seen any other complaints about this, so I suspect that there is something specific to my setup.\r\n\r\nPerhaps related to [this ipython issue](https://github.com/ipython/ipython/issues/10137) (but this happens even from the plain python3 REPL.)
