{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"DiscussionForumPosting","headline":"Doc Typo:  matplotlib.axes.Axes.get_yticklabels  / Axis.get_ticklabels","articleBody":"\u003c!--To help us understand and resolve your issue, please fill out the form to the best of your ability.--\u003e\r\n\u003c!--You can feel free to delete the sections that do not apply.--\u003e\r\n\r\n### Bug report\r\n\r\n**Bug summary**\r\n[get_yticklabels ](https://matplotlib.org/api/_as_gen/matplotlib.axes.Axes.get_yticklabels.html#matplotlib.axes.Axes.get_yticklabels) doc refers to x ticks. \r\n\u003c!--A short 1-2 sentences that succinctly describes the bug--\u003e\r\n```\r\nAxes.get_yticklabels(minor=False, which=None)\r\n    Get the x tick labels as a list of Text instances.\r\n```\r\n\r\nI went to make a PR but was unsure where to make the change.\r\n\r\nI found a get_yticklabels() function in `axes/_base.py` but it has correct docs.\r\nhttps://github.com/matplotlib/matplotlib/blob/90ac52366535e71827738feb3dea15317d233a96/lib/matplotlib/axes/_base.py#L3526-L3528  \r\n\r\nIt does however use a  `get_ticklabels` method.\r\nFinding a `get_ticklabels` method of the `Axis` class I see that the documentation specifically references x ticks. \r\nhttps://github.com/matplotlib/matplotlib/blob/7d7692f966e89ec8060e420dceb25154d9480f49/lib/matplotlib/axis.py#L1246-L1248\r\n\r\nThis may be where the typo is coming from.
