(Fedora 27, compiled own python 3.6.4 from source, all extra packages installed from pip3).\r\n\r\n**Code for reproduction**\r\n\r\nmatplotlibrc:\r\n```\r\nbackend : TkCairo\r\n# all other lines commented out\r\n```\r\ncode:\r\n\r\n```python\r\nfrom matplotlib.pylab import *\r\nplot([0,1])\r\nshow()\r\n```\r\n\r\n**Actual outcome**\r\n\r\nQt4Cairo, Qt5Cairo - frame but no plot, frame not updated\r\nWXCairo, TkCairo - no frame\r\n\r\nJust to be sure, GTK3Cairo makes a frame with a plot, all working fine.\r\nSame for Qt5Agg, WXAgg, TkAgg all work as well\r\n\r\nQt4Agg is broken (\"ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'PyQt4'\", there seems to be no such module on pip)\r\n\r\nSo it seems neither Cairo, WX, Tk, QT5 are broken by themselves, but the integration does not work smoothly, at least in my setup. I have no clue how to debug this.\r\n\r\n**Expected outcome**\r\n\r\nA plot.\r\n\r\n**Matplotlib version**\r\n * Operating system: Fedora 27\r\n * Matplotlib version: 2.2.0\r\n * Matplotlib backend (see above)\r\n * Python version: 3.6.4 \r\n * IPython: 6.2.1\r\n \r\npython compiled from source, packages (current) from pip3\r\n","author":{"url":"https://github.com/2sn","@type":"Person","name":"2sn"},"datePublished":"2018-03-12T21:53:35.000Z","interactionStatistic":{"@type":"InteractionCounter","interactionType":"https://schema.org/CommentAction","userInteractionCount":27},"url":"https://github.com/10763/matplotlib/issues/10763"}
