My suggestion is to expand the Network Monitor feature with either:\n\n1. Add a `Protocol: SMTP` option, which will speak the protocol (EHLO+QUIT); or\n\n2. In a more generic way, expand the `Protocol: TCP` option to allow for it to check for TLS/STARTTLS connections;\n\nThe former gives a higher-quality probe (green means EHLO was successful), but the latter allows for more flexibility to monitor a broader range of softwares (i.e.: a database).\n\n### Motivation / Use Case\n\nFirst, thank you for building Beszel!\n\nI find the new Network Monitors quite useful, and all I need to replace a system like Uptime Kuma in my stack is for Beszel to monitor my SMTP servers. I can already use the  protocol TCP, but expanding it to support TLS would also allow for monitoring the certificate expiration date.\n\nI've gave a shot of implementing this myself and I believe I can implement it and send a Pull Request, but before I get too excited, I want to check if you are willing to support such feature, or if users should look elsewhere for more complex monitoring setups (which is totally fair!).\n\nThank you!","author":{"url":"https://github.com/kassner","@type":"Person","name":"kassner"},"datePublished":"2026-10-23T20:36:49Z","url":"https://github.com/henrygd/beszel/issues/2690"}
