The instructions below were successfully tested on Fedora and RHEL machines.\r\n\r\n## Installation Guide\r\n\r\n1. **Install and configure podman**\r\n```bash\r\nsudo dnf install podman-docker\r\n\r\n# ensure \"docker.io\" is first in the `unqualified-search-registries` config array\r\n## e.g. unqualified-search-registries = [\"docker.io\", \"registry.fedoraproject.org\", \"quay.io\"]\r\n# also, ensure `short-name-mode` is set to \"permissive\" or \"disabled\"\r\n## e.g. short-name-mode=\"permissive\"\r\nsudo vi /etc/containers/registries.conf\r\n```\r\n2. **Enable the podman socket**\r\n\r\nfor non-root users\r\n```bash\r\nsystemctl --user enable --now podman.socket\r\nsystemctl --user status podman.socket\r\n```\r\nfor root users\r\n```bash\r\nsystemctl enable --now podman.socket\r\nsystemctl status podman.socket\r\n```\r\n3. **Set environment variables**\r\n```bash\r\n# should return something like `unix:///run/user/{user's uid}/podman/podman.sock` or `unix:///run/podman/podman.sock`\r\nexport DOCKER_HOST=unix://$(podman info --format '{{.Host.RemoteSocket.Path}}') \u0026\u0026 echo ${DOCKER_HOST}\r\nexport TESTCONTAINERS_RYUK_DISABLED=true\r\n```","author":{"url":"https://github.com/tchughesiv","@type":"Person","name":"tchughesiv"},"datePublished":"2024-05-09T18:55:21.000Z","interactionStatistic":{"@type":"InteractionCounter","interactionType":"https://schema.org/CommentAction","userInteractionCount":0},"url":"https://github.com/4190/feast/issues/4190"}
