While deep RNNs have been the main thrust of the project since its inception in the summer of 2016, using \"FRNN\" as a shorthand name might be too narrow going forward. Already, the repository contains implementations of a variety of shallow ML methods: random forests, SVMs, single hidden layer perceptrons, and gradient-boosted trees. We have added, or are about to add, deep learning methods that are not based on RNNs, e.g. TCN and Transformers. \r\n\r\nAlso, not sure if we want to keep PPPL in our GitHub org name, given that we have researchers and team members elsewhere.\r\n\r\n**Possible changes**:\r\n\r\n- `import plasma` ---\u003e `import fusionml`, `import deepfusion`\r\n- Repository name `plasma-python` ---\u003e `plasma` to be consistent with the folder/module name\r\n- PPPLDeepLearning ---\u003e DeepLearningPPPL, DeepLearningFusion, FusionDeepLearning ?\r\n- Keep \"Deep\" in our names, since the shallow methods have really only been used for demonstrating that we outperform them?\r\n- FusionML (FML?)\r\n- DeepFusion? \"Deep\" prefix might be overused at this point... and \"Deep Fusion\" is an Apple camera technology in the iPhone 11\r\n","author":{"url":"https://github.com/felker","@type":"Person","name":"felker"},"datePublished":"2020-01-23T19:00:48.000Z","interactionStatistic":{"@type":"InteractionCounter","interactionType":"https://schema.org/CommentAction","userInteractionCount":2},"url":"https://github.com/64/plasma-python/issues/64"}
